IMPORTANT REMINDERS

 

Companies can now own Colorado Cannabis businesses, however, the process of a company approval can take a much longer period of time than an individual application.  It is highly suggested that you have all your paperwork and accounts and company structure in place prior to submitting your application. 

 

If you have had or any of your employees have any police contact during the 7 year period prior to application submission be sure to include your depositions from the Court from which you have had contact.

Also with regard to financial disclosures, please provide 6 months of bank statements from your personal account and 6-month bank statements from the account where you are getting the money to purchase an or invest in your new business.

Company Setup

To make your company a success you will need to have your company structure in place. You will need to hire professionals to make sure that you stay compliant and all records are kept up to date. You will also need to learn the Metric system, hire an attorney, accountant, employees, and other professionals to help make your company run smoothly. Attorney 

Your corporate Attorney is a relationship that you will need to have in this industry. There are several who specialize in the MMJ space and there are several good attorneys, however, you should pick one with experience and that have a relationship with the local municipalities and with the MED.

Accountant

The position is the most important as this is where you will learn about the marijuana tax code of 28o-E. They will also show you how to properly set up your company the best way for you and your group.

Compliance

The compliance officer may be your attorney but it is highly suggested that you hire an in-house complicate officer or make one of your employees your in house compliance officer. It is one of the most important parts of your company.

Employees and Sales Staff

There is a high turn over in this industry. To keep good employees you have to treat them well and make sure you offer living wages and pay your salespeople a decent commission and pay scale.

Marketing and Support
